DEE-A-TEE-E: (Tuesday, June 08, 2010!)
Meant to post this last night, but internet connection was down ;P so its continued with the part I wrote today
Hm let’s get the time right:
It is currently Monday, 7th June 12.20 pm in Singapore, and Monday, 7th June 12.20 am in Canada. But since it’d just past 12 am I’d take it as today’s Sunday, 6th June.
Yupp, so…
Thursday, 4th June (Singapore):
- Last minute packing!
- Didn’t expect to pack till so late, ended up sleeping at 12.30 am
Friday, 5th June (Singapore):
- Woke up bright (not so bright) and early at 3am! : /
- Got a cab at 3.30am and went off to terminal 1!
- Apparently they’ve got this new procedure where Singaporeans entering the US have to sign up online for this thing (forgot what it’s called), even though Singaporeans don’t need VISA to get into the US :P yup, so did a last minute sign up with my laptop at the airport during check-in. My mum got a fright at first, thinking that this needed to be done several days before or something. Who knows it only takes 5 minutes -_- wonder what its for?
- Grabbed breakfast at jollibean. Om nom nom, love their pancakes C:
Plane flight: Singapore>>Tokyo
- It was seven hours I believe. I planned to watch tons of movies and read books, but ended up spending most of my time sleeping -____- I had planned to watch the hurt locker, Sherlock holmes and valentine’s day, but yea, guess I was too tired, and eyes just stung a lot.
- A dad and his two kids were sitting beside us. Kids were very cute :D and very noisy.
- Omelette with sausages for breakfast. And rolls. And yoghurt. And fruits. And milk. And potatoes. I bet flying makes you fat.
- Hm. Nothing much to say, basically just slept most my time. Quite surprising, cus for almost all my previous flights I couldn’t go to sleep
Tokyo
- Not much time spent there, had to transit ;P only a few minutes in their tourist shop. Everything looks so yummy and a price to match
- Oh I saw the Hokkaido chocolate weijin bought us!
Plane flight: Tokyo>>Detroit
- This one was 11 hours. Spent most of my time sleeping, again.
- And this plane didn’t have those personal screen thing on the seat in front of you! But didn’t matter too much to me this time anyway. Watched valentines day on the big screen though.
- I don’t know what meal was it cus I didn’t know what was the time of the day, but had teriyaki chicken plus eggs plus rice plus yoghurt plus curried shrimps plus salad plus juice plus rolls plus fruits, and a snack afterwards was Danish pastry plus fruits.
- I like seeing the view from the plane when it’s up in the air! clouds are pretty stuff C:
- But somehow, it seems like I’ve always gotten a seat such that its directly above the wing of the plane. So it cuts of a big portion of the view :C
Detroit
- Nothing much. Clearing customs was a hassle
Plane flight: Detroit>>Montreal
- This one was just 1 hour and 45 minutes.
- The plane was tiny. I think the tiniest plane I’ve ever sat. there wasn’t even a center isle, and there were just two seats on each side. If I’m not wrong, there needed only 1 flight stewardess.
- Under 2 hours but there’s still food for you! Peanuts, pretzels, cookies, soda, etc etc
- My mum says she saw, during the flight from the window, this wide river which looked like it was emitting smoke. I was sleeping then, so I didn’t manage to see it :P it could be the Niagara falls, cus it is located between Detroit and Montreal! :D
5th June (Montreal time)
- Dad picked us up from the airport C:
- Got someone to drive us to the rented apartment downtown. Montreal is cool, in the temperature sense :D
- Well well well, the apartment was a pleasant surprise!
- See, cus there were 3 rooms, a dining room, a complete bathroom and a kitchen! And a balcony! In other words, a real apartment! And this was all for merely $75 per night! Awesome eh?
- By the time we returned, it was already 9pm. Dad cooked up dinner for us, spaghetti and stuff. Yum yum. There’s free internet excess here too (duh)! But its not very steady though :/
- Slept (almost) the moment I lied down C:
6th June
- Woke up feeling tired. Well, what could I expect, I woke up at what it was to be 11pm at night!
- Thankyou ben for helping with my account!
- Lunched, and went out to their train station metro to get tickets
- Went to their supermarket too. Their supermarkets look so much nicer than those in Singapore!
- They’ve got huge arrays of baked goods and cereal and salads :O
- Oh, outside was cold, everyone on the streets walked quite briskly
- Went over to one of my parents’ university friend’s house in the afternoon.
- Was an hour’s train+bus ride from where we stayed
- Their trains are noisy heh heh, compared to singapore’s mrts. When they approach it’s like thunder
- Oh everything around us is in French, je ne comprehend pas! (I think that’s the way to say/spell it, if my memory from 3 years ago doesn’t fail me!)
- Uncle and auntie were very smiley, and auntie was very very very talkative! She could just bring up something to talk about at all times, so when she was around it was never quiet ;O
- They’ve got a daughter who’s a year and a half older than me. She’s entering CEGEP soon.
- The adults kept reminiscing about their uni years. I wonder, that’ll be the way when we grow up and gather again?
- Time passed real fast, it was 10.30 pm by the time we left.
7th June
- Woke up feeling tired again. Jet laggzzzzzzz
- Had a hearty breakfast C: everything seems so yummy
- Lunch at a Chinese buffet restaurant. Mm was not bad, ate till I was so full ;P
- Walked down to this place called old port. It’s apparently the oldest place in Montreal, where Montreal first started out etc etc
- The streets are really rustic, seems to me like those old London streets, with the brown blocks of houses, stone paved streets, and oil lamps.
- They have quite a lot of horse drawn carriages in that area. Though it was a solid 48 bucks for the 3 of us, I couldn’t resist but to take it :P chose a shiny black horse :D
- Hm don’t feel like tying anymore, shall end here :/
